After a hard-fought 0-0 stalemate against Pyramids FC in the CAF Champions League, Orlando Pirates midfielder Thalente Mbatha shared his thoughts on the match and his team's performance.

"I believe that for us, it just wasn’t our day," Mbatha said in a post-match interview. "We created the chances, but unfortunately, we couldn't convert them into goals."

Despite the draw, Mbatha remained optimistic, pointing out the Buccaneers’ impressive form on the road in the tournament.

"We’ve been playing away and winning, so we see that as an advantage. We went to Cairo and managed to get a result. Our focus now is to maintain the strong mentality we’ve shown so far, especially since we’re still unbeaten in the CAF Champions League."

Mbatha also analyzed the tactics of their Egyptian opponents:

"They had two men marking us and tried to catch us on the counter. Their right wing wasn’t tracking back, which created openings for our left back. But clearly, their strategy was to secure the point, knowing they were playing away."

Looking ahead, the Pirates midfielder remains confident:

"Had we scored once, I believe we could have netted more. Now, it’s all about going back to Cairo with the same mindset and getting the job done."
