Polokwane, Limpopo - A 28-year-old man, Ditebogo Frans Gololo, appeared in the Seshego Magistrate's Court today, December 30, 2024, facing charges of statutory rape and sexual grooming of a minor. Gololo is accused of impregnating a 13-year-old girl in the Seshego township

According to the prosecution, Gololo met the victim at a local shopping complex in January 2024. Their interactions continued, and their relationship became intimate in May 2024.
The victim, who was eight months pregnant at the time of reporting, gave birth to a baby boy on Christmas Day, December 25, 2024. The incident came to light when the victim confided in her aunt about complications related to the pregnancy.
Following the disclosure, medical examinations confirmed the pregnancy. The Seshego Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit swiftly arrested Gololo on December 26, 2024.
The case was postponed to January 8, 2025, for a bail application and further investigations. Gololo remains in custody.
